Illuman Watering Hole Event
Caring and Compassion with Psychologist and Author Robert J. Wicks
In the end, it is not how much darkness there is in the world, your country, church, family or even in yourself that really matters. It is how you stand in that darkness that is the real issue.
– Robert J. Wicks
How do we increase our resilience while having compassion?
How do we maintain strength while caring for people—and avoid being pulled down by their problems and concerns?
Our next Watering Hole speaker, Psychologist and author Robert J. Wicks, has decades of experience teaching people to do just that.
Bob Wicks is known around the world for his skill in teaching helping-professionals develop methods for fostering resilience and avoiding secondary stress (the pressures experienced through reaching out to others), through healthy self-care practices. In his Watering Hole presentation, Bob will offer insights into how we can embrace compassion and hope and live peacefully in these challenging times, and in turn, extend our warmth to others without losing our own inner fire in the process. Through inspiring personal stories, Bob will offer vivid examples for:
-
Adopting helpful psychological and spiritual self-care practices to deepen self-awareness, to face our spiritual darkness, develop a healthy perspective, and prevent unnecessary stress in dealing with the challenges of day-to-day life.
-
Knowing the 4 voices we need to have in our circle of friends for maintaining balance, courage, and compassion for self and others.
