Supported and encouraged by Illuman’s East Coast Collaborative, twenty-five North Carolina men have connected with other brothers around the State. Since June, eight of those have gathered monthly in Virtual Council, and on August 19th, seven men met face-to-face in Hanging Rock State Park for a day of Council and Wilderness Wanderings.
Under an oak forest canopy, we circled our chairs, drummed to a feeling of connectedness, and began sharing. The spiral deepened quickly as we were joined by a Calming Presence. After lunch, we wandered individually in the wilderness before returning to Council. Many new and moving experiences were shared. The spirit of Illuman is alive among men in North Carolina!
We will meet again, likely in October, by the Haw River. A collective journey has begun! If anyone from the Carolinas is interested in joining us, contact Richard Willis at rhwillis51@gmail.com.
