October 31st Morning Retreat with the Magician- Illuman of Washington
How sturdy we thought we’d built our towers in America: democracy, equity, progress, health. Certainty.
Only to be thunderstruck year after year, 2020 striking harder than we ever could’ve imagined: cynicism, injustice, futility, disease and wildfire. Reality.
Now we freefall like leaves through liminal space. When and where do we land? Are we caught?
Only the Great Magician knows: God-Nature. The One who Creates, Destroys, Sustains – each as a means to the others. The One who catches us the whole way down and up. The One who has imparted in each of us a spark of the self-same Magician’s power: to catch ourselves and each other.
Join us on October 31 for a time of reacquainting ourselves with this power in ourselves and beyond. Together we’ll engage in story, ritual, council, image, and Nature.
Which Magician(s) do you sense is/are guiding you through our liminal space? Clown or Charon or Coyote, Gandalf or Galadriel or Grandfather – there are endless possibilities. At the retreat, we invite you to take on that Magician’s costume.
All Magicians have a tool through which they conduct the creative fire: a wand. What is your wand? Whether it’s a shaft holly and phoenix feather, a baton of bone, a walking staff, a paintbrush or pen or favorite spatula, or a self-made artifact all your own. If it helps you make magic, we invite you to bring it.
Keep open 8:00 AM to noon on October 31. The final schedule and other details will be sent out in a separate email.
We’ll spend time gathering both on- and off-Zoom. If you’re joining us in North America, we remind you that we gather on the ancestral land of indigenous peoples. Here is an interactive map to help you find who stewards your place of residence. We also invite you to observe Indigenous People’s Day on October 12, and on every other day.
